Should Pastors Cash Winning Lottery Tickets Left as an Offering?

Imagine going to your local grocery store and seeing your devoted Pastor in the lottery line. Yes, the man or woman of God is standing at the pink machine cashing in a winning ticket. I'm sure anyone would be shocked at this sight, but what if it was an offering? Does that make it okay for the church to accept this money? Also, with so many horror stories of people being sued by friends and family for their lottery winnings, is it wise to cash the ticket? Read the attached article below from Baltimore's WBAL News website and give us your opinion. A local church, (that is purposely left nameless in the article) reported that someone left a $30,000 winning scratch off lottery ticket in the collection plate. The Pastor of the church has already confirmed that he will cash the ticket and use it for church expenses and to help some families in need. So, with money exchanging hands so many times we don't usually know where its been. It could have been in the midst of a drug deal for all we know. But it is in God's Hands now, right? So, should the Pastor cash the lottery ticket and put it to the use he has suggested?

Lottery: $30K Ticket Left In Church Collection Plate - Baltimore, Maryland News Story - WBAL Baltimore

BALTIMORE -- Maryland Lottery officials said the pastor of a struggling parish recently came across a generous donation in the collection plate -- a $30,000 scratch-off ticket.
Lottery officials didn't release the name of the church but did say the ticket had been scratched off when it was placed in the collection plate earlier this month.
The pastor found the ticket when tallying that Sunday's contributions.

The church will use the money toward operating expenses, but the pastor said he hopes some of the money can be shared with those in need.
"I have no idea who did this," the pastor told Lottery workers, admitting that he had to ask someone if the ticket was indeed a winner. "I really have no clue."
The winning "Cash Craze Crossword" ticket was purchased at No. 1 Liberty Mart on Liberty Road in Randallstown.

What if someone tries to sue the church claiming they didn't mean to give it? i've seen that show "How The Lottery Changed My Life." Friends, family memebers, co-workers all change when you're the one with the money and not them. The start sueing and all kinds of stuff. one guy was murdered for his winnings. The church has to be very careful with that.
