Should Beauty Contests Rewrite The Definition Of What A Woman Is?

Sex-changed beauty queen Jenna Talackova was working the talk show circuit this morning with her lawyer Gloria Allred talking about rewriting the definition of what a woman is for beauty contests.
In an interview with ABC Television’s “Good Morning America,” Talackova says she initially didn’t tell her boyfriend she was born a boy.
The 23-year-old from Vancouver says they had to get to know each other as friends first. Talackova says fellow contestants in the Miss Universe pageant are very supportive. She says they have made it clear they want her to compete. Talackova was disqualified from the Miss Universe Canada pageant because she was not born female, but was reinstated when contest owner Donald Trump reversed the decision.
This morning of ABC’s The View she revealed that her transgender operation was extremely painful but that she was a full-fledged woman. Ms Allred said that the quest now is to have all beauty contests review their rules. She and attorney Gloria Allred, known for taking on high-profile cases, held a press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
“Jenna entered this competition and gave the pageant her time, her best efforts and her money,” Allred said at the press conference, Talackova at her side, as TMZ reported. “She did not think for one moment that what she looked like at birth would be relevant. She did not ask Mr. Trump to prove that he is a naturally born man, or to see the photos of his birth to view his anatomy to prove he was male. It made no difference to her. Why should it have made a difference to him?”
