From their distinctive crown to their ruby red arils, pomegranates are royalty amongst fruit. They are symbolic of prosperity and abundance in virtually every civilization. Fortunately, this treasure’s versatility and possibilities are as abundant as the juicy arils bursting forth from within. 


SPICY POMEGRANATE RELISH

2 medium pomegranates, seeded , about 1 ½ cups
½ cup finely chopped sweet onion
1 ½ tablespoons finely chopped, green jalapeno pepper
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon sugar
¼ teaspoon salt

Gently fold together pomegranate arils and remaining ingredients.

Makes 1 ½ cups

11 Health Benefits of Pomegranate Juice

Several recent studies have shown significant potential health benefits from drinking pomegranate juice. Here are eleven:
Fights Breast Cancer
Studies in Israel show that pomegranate juice destroys breast cancer cells while leaving healthy cells alone. It may also prevent breast cancer cells from forming.
