Many different religious affiliates believe the role of women is clearly defined. However, each religion defines them differently. Some believe that women should not preach while others believe it is morally and religiously wrong to go outside uncovered by hijabs (head wear for women). The issue of the woman's role and rights in religion is a controversial one. Below you will see a clip of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish publication that does not believe women should be pictured in photographs. As is their belief, they edited a White House photograph in their newspaper to exclude Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with her hand clasped over her mouth, and Audrey Tomason, director of counterterrorism. This historic photograph is the one taken of President Barack Obama and his national security team during the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound. By law, no White House picture can be edited in any way for publication. So this is, as the gentleman in the clip says, an issue of freedom of the press and freedom of religion. Their Jewish laws prohibit them from showing a woman in pictures, while the laws of the USA prohibit them from removing them in this case. Which law would you uphold if it were your religious beliefs in question? Leave a comment and let us know what you think about the entire issue.
